The following are the highlights concerning home renovations for the year: - Total money spent on all home renovations throughout the country: $21 billion.
- Average cost of renovation per home: $13,000. This figure is higher the older the dwelling.
- 40% of homes were renovated in one way or another, 25% of which involved room remodeling.
For 2009, these figures are expected to rise, despite the bad economic times, due to the federal Home Renovation Tax Credit.
